Real 400Hz Gyroscope in operation
Environmental ambience of a real home simulator can be achieved by using various sound files which adds a lot in terms of realism. In a previous post, I have already written a blog on controlling relays and contractors with PROSIM (which is available via this link). Using real heavy duty contactors linked to various electrical bus gates, I simulate the contactor closing and opening sounds which is much better and realistic than the sound functionality of PROSIM. PROSIM allows

Controlling Relays with PROSIM
As some of the sections of this project involves working with 220VAC, take extreme caution when working with 220VAC circuits. Never do or re-do wiring under live voltage, always unplug your 220VAC source prior to wiring, re-wiring controlling. The goal of this project is to control various types of relays with my PROSIM software (www.prosim-ar.com) using an Arduino MEGA 2560 and Mobiflight software (www.mobiflight.com) . With relays I can simulate various components to be tu

Rudder Pedals
In the early stages of my project, I have modified a CH rudder pedals to look and function like an airbus rudder. But obviously this was not a permanent and robust solution and was more for the visuals. Below are some photos of how I modified my CH pedals to look like an airbus rudder. All made our of plastics and wood. Recently I received my professional rudder pedals from cockpitturk.com which are solid metal construction with heavy duty springs, bearings and mechanisms. Th

Simulation Software PROSIM setup
My previous blog entry focused on my past experience on various simulation software. As mentioned towards the end of the blog entry I am now running my simulator with PROSIM-AR's Airbus A320 software. I have almost fully migrated from my previous settings to PROSIM with no major issues or hindrances. It is a very flexible and easy to adapt software suit. Setting up the PROSIM software is very simple, after completing the registration procedures you simply receive the followin

Airbus A320 Homecockpit Hand Microphone
Lately I have been digging deep into the cockpit communications and intercomm system. Currently I am using JeeHell's intercomm system which is an acceptable solution with some improvements to be implemented in the future.. hopefully... In this context I wanted to have realistic looking handheld mike both for the captains and first officers side. So I did a 3D CAD design first to get a real fealing of the hand held mike and then performed 3D printed from PLA material for the

Airbus A320 Dummy Foot Rest and Table Setup
The idea was to simulate a fake foot rest and pull table as seen in an actual Airbus A320 below. It is on my agenda to re-do this section to implement a pull out table (no intensions to do the foot rests) #airbus #a320 #airbusa320 #homecockpit #okansacli The dimensions were all improvised by looking at various photos over the net and by trying to scale things in an cad design environment. The dimensions I used in my setup can be seen below; Detailed manufacturing drawings wer

Airbus A320 Main Instrument Panels
Initially , I had the MIP panels from flightdecksolutions (their solution was called NOVA panels back in 2004). These panels were cnc cut 2 mm thick ABS type panels (with some sort protective clear screen over them) as seen in the photos below. However the structural stability of these panels were too weak, so I thought I should go with something thicker and stronger (all these are happening back in 2004, if i were to do it today I would definetly go with metal sheets) So I

Airbus A320 Home Cockpit Shell design and implementation -Part II
The complete cabin has been modeled in 3D as seen below. This design is the result of many days and nights hard work. A short video of the design can be seen at this link. The only source of information available was some photos over the net. This design was done in year 2003 by the way. Before starting with the production I wanted to see the complete design in 3D so that's how I did it. Branching off from this 3D-Design I produced my many 2D workshop drawings for the actual

Airbus A320 Home Cockpit Shell design and implementation -Part I
My cockpit cabin design is based on a wooden / timber based construction with final finishing cladddings implemented only from the inside (ie. when viewed from outside it the structure is fully visible). I had no concerns on the external view of the simulator, so dream of a shell visible from outside so that's why I prefered to go this way, you are free to improvise accordingly. (Please note the some of the stuff seen in some of the photos are way back from the past and have

Airbus A320 Throttles for Home Cockpit - Rework
I have designed and manufactured my throttles back in 2004 as seen at this link. The initial design was plastic levers without reverse locking mechanism and aluminium body and non moving plastic based trim wheels. Recently I have decided to upgrade the throttle set, so that I have more realistic looking levers and try to implement the reverse thrust locking levers as well. The design is an existing one (with all the necessary STL files included) which was officialy purchase
